Earning more money is never a bad thing and, if you can't manage to save, it could be the only way for you to start investing in the stock market. One of the best ways to earn more is to have a side hustle of some kind. With that in mind, here are a couple of different and fairly simple ways to make some extra money on the side. These aren't meant to replace your primary income, just give you some extra money here and there.
Have a Garage Sale
Most people have way too many things in their homes. We have many different older electronics, clothing, furniture and other knick-knacks that do nothing but collect dust. Instead of just having them sit around, you can set up a garage sale and potentially make hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Weekends are often the best time to have these garage sales and you can likely have many in any given year. Also, instead of having a physical garage sale to sell your things, you can just as easily sell them on eBay, Kijiji, VarageSale or some other online marketplace. While shipping makes the sale take a bit longer and such, you can often make more money selling your stuff online than through a physical garage sale.
Turn Your Hobby Into a Money-Maker
While we spend a large portion of our lives working, we each also have some hobbies. While some kinds of hobbies will have no chance of making you any extra cash, some definitely can. Whether you like to paint, do carpentry (you can sell your creations on Etsy), take photos (you can sell stock photos on iStock), write (you can sell your services on Fiverr), play video games (you can open a channel on Twitch) or do dozens of other things, they can earn you money. While it may take some time and some hard work, the rewards will be fruitful. You can often make hundreds of dollars every week if you market yourself and your skills in the right way.
“Flip” Products
This is becoming quite common and popular nowadays as a way to make money on the side. Flipping something essentially means buying it for a very low price, fixing it up, and the re-selling it for a profit. People do this with electronics, furniture, cars and even homes. Garage sales and discount stores/bins are great places to find cheap things to fix up and flip. While this can take some time and there is no guarantee you will make money, it is still a simple and straight forward way of making some extra cash.
Rent a Room in Your Home
Even if you don't have a ton of things to sell or a marketable skill, you likely have a spare room in your house. With rent prices and real estate being hot right now, you can likely rent out a room or floor in your home for big money. A single room could get you hundreds of dollars on Airbnb or HomeAway, and you won't even have to do a thing. Some people take this to the next level by full on purchasing apartments, condos or homes and then renting the entire place to tenants.
